What’s the job?


  • Monitor equipment condition, in part, by performing both a formal schedule of systematic inspections (PM) of plant equipment, and non-systematic inspections as required by equipment stoppages, daily incidents and pending down days.

  • Record and analyze data, then initiate the appropriate work notifications, in order to maintain or replace equipment components so that equipment reliability and performance are maximized and costs can be minimized and budgeted properly.

  • The Maintenance Inspector role plays a critical role in identifying existing or probable issues and implementing the appropriate courses of action in accordance to CMMS protocols.

  • Support plant safety and environmental monitoring activities to ensure the facility is in compliance with the various federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

  • Play a key role in the development, review and modification of the formal schedule of PM activities (Master Schedule).

  • Perform follow-up inspections and verifies tolerances in critical issues to assure compliance to acceptance standards and the PPM Guidelines following repairs and new installations.

  • The Maintenance Inspector is the recognized technical expert in his area of the plant and he provides advice and support accordingly. The individual makes technical decisions regarding plant equipment repairs and/or routine maintenance in coordination with the Planner, and provides coaching to hourly technicians.

  • Interact with production personnel regarding operating procedures which have an impact on equipment.

Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

  • Minimum HS diploma required.

  • University or college degree in mechanical engineering is preferred, or possess equivalent field experience

  • Technical vocational training and/or certification in equipment repair

  • Demonstrated electro-mechanical aptitude

  • Strong knowledge of equipment operation and equipment repairs.

  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and knowledge of predictive maintenance tools and techniques (vibration and oil analysis, ultrasound testing, etc.) are an asset.

  • Demonstrated analytical and trouble shooting skills.

  • Knowledge of problem solving techniques (Statistical Process Control, Root Cause Failure Analysis, etc.)

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Strong communicator (both oral & written).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to interact with plant personnel.

  • Highly motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work in stressful situations and set priorities

  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving organizational and personal goals.

  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment (co-workers, suppliers, etc.)

  • Well organized and systematic.
