Position Summary:

The School of Management at the University at Buffalo (State University of New York, SUNY at Buffalo), invites nominations and applications for tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate / Full Professor (10 months) of Strategy / Entrepreneurship in the Department of Operations Management & Strategy (https://management.buffalo.edu/faculty/academic-departments/operations-management-strategy.html) . This position will be expected to help significantly grow and shape the school’s research profile and provide excellent teaching in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An outstanding record of influential scholarship as evidenced by a strong publication and citation record and be eligible for a tenured appointment at the rank of Associate / Full Professor at an AAU (Association of American Universities);

  • A demonstrated record of success as an academic leader and team builder, developing and enhancing research and educational relationships among faculty, alumni, and affiliated units;

  • A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching.

About the Department of Operations Management & Strategy ( OMS )

The OMS department includes 15 full-time faculty members, five of whom teach Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship courses. Both the School and the University offer a wide range of entrepreneurship programs.

The entrepreneurial ecosystem in Buffalo has evolved into a dynamic and vibrant hub for innovation and business growth. UB plays a pivotal role in fostering regional innovation through its academic programs, the School’s Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership ( CEL ), Business and Entrepreneur Partner ( BEP ), the I-Corp program, the Western New Your Incubator Network ( WIN ), and the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. These programs provide resources, mentorship, co-working space, and funding opportunities to early-stage startups, helping them refine their ideas and scale their businesses. UB is highly integrated into Buffalo’s entrepreneurial ecosystem with faculty serving as advisory board members, consultants, competition judges, and mentors. The Entrepreneurship faculty also work closely with a wide range of UB campus entities offering Entrepreneurship courses, workshops, and experiential learning opportunities. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD) in a business discipline or related field.

  • A record of influential scholarship at a major research university.

  • A strong publication record in top journals in finance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience, including working with faculty across departments on interdisciplinary teams.

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.

  • Experience in mentoring both senior and junior faculty as well as graduate students.

  • An interest in developing the research and outreach capability of research and practice centers.
