Job Description

Overview: Business Development Manager

BDMs are responsible in growing and developing CBI’s Core, Spirits, and Luxury brand business within assigned Sales Divisions – Atlantic, Emerald, Full-Book Off-Premise, Full-Book On-Premise, and Lauber Imports. Through comprehensive business analytics and field support, BDMs provide refined commercial strategies and execute on the priorities of work, under the direction from Atlantic Division’s Sales Director for Execution. BDMs pre-plan weekly activities which includes:

  • Initiating account calls to identify sales opportunities.

  • Scheduling appointments with decision-makers to present viable solutions.

  • Following-up on sales calls/presentations.

  • Closing new off-premise business (displays, distribution, cold box).

  • Closing new on-premise business (features/wine list placements/drink list placements).

BDMs manage and execute on quarterly brand programs in concert with SGWS sales teams. In addition, BDMs participate in sales meetings, prepare various data analytical reports, and align programs with sales initiatives on a routine basis.


Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor degree plus 3 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

· Must be 21 years of age or older

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in multiple disciplines in sales, sales management, category/brand management including but not limited to merchandising, product promotion, and supplier/vendor relations

· Ability to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays when required and sometime over 40 hours per week

· Possess a dependable vehicle, valid driver's license, proof of state registration and insurance, and an acceptable driving record

Proficient at calculating percentages and reviewing comparative sales data for analysis

Adaptable and can assist a variety of internal customer groups and varying personality types

Thrive on creating and selling innovative ideas; demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit

Strong negotiation skills

Strong communication skills – written, verbal, persuasion, motivation, facilitation of strong working relationships

Knowledge of other MS Office Suite and/or software applications related to job functions

Excellent interpersonal, customer service, analytical/problem solving, problem management, presentation development, presentation, and communications skills

Comprehensive understanding of wine to include major wine regions/varietals, wine/food pairing techniques, basic production, and wine service

Physical Demands

Physical demands with activity or condition existing a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (i.e., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or calculator

Physical demands with activity or condition existing an occasional to rare amount of time amount of time include walking, carrying, reaching, standing, and stooping

May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, or pulling up to 40lbs
