Forest Materials, a Commercial Architectural Woodwork company and Union Millwork Shop is looking for a CAD Drafter to join our Team, who will be responsible for creating and revising millwork fabrication shop drawings. Forest Materials primarily works as a sub-contractor for large commercial construction companies in Western New York. We are looking for someone with any combination of Carpenter, Cabinet Making, AutoCAD and Drafting skills. We are a family-owned business that takes pride in the quality of our products and customer-centric service, as well as our employees. Forest Materials has been proudly creating high quality custom cabinets and architectural millwork for 70 years.
Responsibilities - Creates detailed shop drawings per the contract documents and provided architectural drawings - Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, custom shop and architectural drawings, plans and specifications - Reviews contract drawings thoroughly to understand expectations and question any discrepancies - Identifies and questions items that are out of scope and different from contract documents - Reviews take offs to ensure proper material amounts are being recognized - Reviews project specifications and ensures we are drawing from current sets - Seeks ways to expedite drawing time without sacrificing quality or accuracy - Works closely with estimator, project managers, foreman and others to ensure that project drawings are done in detail
Requirements-Skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Strong time management skills, deadline oriented, highly organized and able to multitask - Able to work in a team-oriented environment and optimally influence and communicate across various lines within the organization - Demonstrate ability to lead and respond positively to change, demonstrate flexibly when addressing shifting or competing priorities - Computer-Aided Design (CAD/AutoCad) software - Drafting - Blueprint reading - Strong mathematical skills - Architectural Millwork knowledge, helpful - CNC Programming experience, helpful
Environmental-Physical requirements - This role operates in a professional office environment. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with occasional bending, lifting and reaching. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Hours Required Full-time Monday - Friday 7:30am-4:00pm (Summer Hours 7:00am-3:30pm)

Required Education and Experience - Ideal candidate will have minimum 2 - 3 years of Architectural Millwork and Casework Drafting experience - Associates in Mechanical Drafting or Computer Science, highly desirable. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a drafting role will be considered in lieu of degree - AutoCAD Certification with ornamental fabrication experience, highly desirable - Salary commensurate with experience, skills, education and training
