Boys on the Right Track Coach in Buffalo, New York

Buffalo. Boys on the Right Track. COACH. PT. Seasonal. 4 hrs./wk. Boys on the Right Track's mission is to nurture the socioemotional skills, collaborative abilities, and personal resilience of young men empowering them to be leaders within their communities and families. Responsibilities: -Opportunity to grow in health and wellness mentoring boys aged 8-13 yo in at risk communities in the city of Buffalo, NY. -Works with a team of coaches to facilitate the Boys on the Right Track curriculum to program participants. -Works closely with the Program Director and entails approximately 4 hours per week on weekdays or weekend. You must be present at least 2 days a week for the nine week program period but you choose the days of the week. (For example, Tuesday/Thursday 3-4:30 pm) -Must attend a one half day training ; a community race event; and First Aid/CPR training, if necessary. Major responsibilities include : preparing, organizing, and supervising the weekly lessons; leading the program participants through each lesson; serving as a role model and mentor; coaching program participants on proper stretching, running form and hydration; attending a 5k running race with program participants. Interacting with parents of program participants; planning and coordinating the end of the season celebration and understanding and believing in the mission of the organization and acting as a spokesperson for the program. This volunteer position may be used as a service learning project, internship, or other college credit project upon agreement of the college /University and Director. QUALIFICATIONS: -Strong desire to empower and mentor boys -Experience working with youth -Excellent communication skills -The ability to be flexible and to improvise when needed -To inspire and motivate others to believe in the mission of Boys on the Right Track -Good organizational skills -The ability to recognize conflict and have the skills to help resolve it -The capacity to work in a partnership with a co-coach -Successfully pass a Background check -First Aid/CPR certification -Believe and support Boys on the Right Track's mission EXPERIENCE -Has awareness of the common and different needs of boys -It is not necessary to be a runner. -Temporary position pays $15./HR and you will be paid as an independent contractor and issued a 1099 Season begins in April and ends in June (nine weeks long) Willing to accept a trainee.
