Summary:

Responsible for coordination of Volunteer Services. Primary responsibilities include onboarding, placement, schedule management, recording of service hours, access, and retention of adult and minor volunteer groups and individuals. Coordinates student volunteers as appropriate for ministry services. Assists with trouble-shooting at individual sites and coordinates volunteer and department scheduling needs such as, but not limited to, the acute hospital information desks, surgery waiting room, NICU cuddlers, volunteer drivers, and errand/escort services. Assists the auxiliaries and/or guilds with their various needs such as newsletters, lobby sales. The Coordinator, Volunteers coordinates on-boarding of volunteers for day to day service needs, virtual opportunities, special events, and patient experience initiatives; including, but not limited to blood drives, mission programs, unit ambassadors, Foundation requests, summer youth volunteer programs, and recognition events. The Coordinator, Volunteers stays engaged with patient experience initiatives and other ministry events and coordinates volunteers for those roles. Collaborates with Mission VP and spiritual care designees to onboard Eucharistic Ministers and other mission appropriate volunteers. Engages with representatives from Home and Community Based care to provide volunteers for residential programs and clinics.

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Volunteer Services and in adherence to Catholic Health Policy, the Coordinator provides updates for on-going education to volunteers as needed per Catholic Health and department specific policy and protocol and as required by regulatory bodies.

The incumbent in this position also assists with coordination of a variety of ministry special events as needed and as related to the need for volunteers including; but not limited to, blood drives, Auxiliary or Guild functions, Foundation requests, department moves, fundraising events, public relations and community events, various healthcare recognition weeks, and volunteer recognition events.

Wiling to travel to various locations both within Catholic Health and the Community as needed and relates to volunteer services.

The Coordinator, Volunteers serves as a liaison between the Supervisor, Volunteers, site volunteers and administration. Acts with integrity and within the best interest of Catholic Health and its ministries and business partners.

The Coordinator, Volunteers may be asked to serve as primary contact for specific ministries; however, is flexible and capable of working with, changing or adding assignments of additional ministries as needed and/or requested based on organization need.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Associates Degree preferred

  • Post high school vocational training or internship or current volunteer services certification preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Three (3) years of experience working with volunteers, preferably in a healthcare environment

  • Experience working with Volunteer software preferred

  • Customer service experience in a retail or hospitality environment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Maintains confidentiality to highly sensitive material

  • May be required to transport documents from department to department

  • Experience in use of Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel

  • Must possess good organizational skills, be able to work under stressful conditions, exercise tact and diplomacy in frequent dealing with many departments/volunteers within the ministry and with outside agencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to communicate with others by phone, email, and other digital technologies utilized by Catholic Health and Community partners

  • Ability to judge the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems

  • Ability to communicate with and maintain excellent public relations with the community as needed

  • Good computer skills required
