CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR NIGHT SHIFT Job Description
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Qualifications: Requires Fingerprinting & Criminal Background Check Requires a Valid New York State Drivers License Must have 3-5 years of experience as a Supervisor and be a Team Player Two years of experience performing custodial work & supervising staff mandatory floor scrubbing & striping knowledge Reports directly to the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds
Responsibilities: The Custodial Supervisor performs responsible supervisory work involving the assignment & direct supervision of custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of buildings, offices and classrooms. The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for training all employees (existing & new) in proper custodial procedures for the use of manually operated tools, electrically-powered machines, cleaning compounds, solvents and chemicals. Provides continuity of supervision & leadership by assuming the duties & responsibilities of other Custodians as required by special circumstances. Contributes to work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Skills: Supervisory skills, management skills (planning & organizing), strong oral & written communications skills and the ability to train employees as required. The ability to inspect the cleanliness of areas that are only accessible by climbing ladders or stairs, bending, reaching, moving furniture, supplies or equipment. Requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Must be able to stand & walk for long periods of time. Requires a full range of physical motion to operate manual & electrically-powered cleaning equipment. Must be able to use independent judgment in certain situations. Assists with snow removal as necessary and other responsibilities due to vacation and/or illness of employees. Ensures the quality of custodial services meets established guidelines by inspecting the work of custodial personnel & complete work thoroughly in a reasonable amount of time. Advises the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds of the conditions of buildings & facilities by conducting regular inspections of those areas & reporting the results with emphasis on needed repairs. Inform Supervisor of needed inventory items to be reordered. Hours: Regular Hours 3 pm to 11 pm M-F. The hours may include weekends for coverage of on-call emergencies. Summer/School Break hours are 7-3 pm weekdays. This is an hourly position. Flexibility is key. Pay Range : $18-$21 depending on experience
