Modern Corporation Driver - Sweeper Truck in Buffalo, New York

Description

The Driver will operate a Broom Sweeper Truck, providing prompt service on scheduled routes and emergency cleanups. Sweeper Truck will remove debris, including broken pavement, asphalt and concrete millings, mud, trash, spills, and construction materials or highway debris build-up due to seasonal /weather changes and highway waste/spills.

Responsibilities

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Perform required inspection of Broom Sweeper, Pre-trip and Post-trip.

  • Drives sweeper along streets and roads, following an established route, on a predetermined schedule.

  • Respond to emergency calls for spill containment and cleanup

  • Maintains appropriate speed and operation for effective operation of the sweeper.

  • Operates mechanical or hydraulic controls and levers to set and adjust angle and height of brushes, to activate the vacuum system in order to deposit debris in collection bin, and to dump accumulated sweepings when bin is full.

  • Complete assigned job(s) in the time allotted while maintaining quality of work.

  • Report any equipment failures, near misses or accidents to Supervisor

  • May occasionally drive other type and size vehicles for which qualified and licensed when required by the workload.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum 2 years driving experience.

  • Valid and clean Class B Drivers license.

  • Able to comply with company policy on controlled substances and alcohol

  • Positive safety record

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Commitment to customer service

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
