Reports To: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent/Director of Golf Pay Rate: $15.50 $18.55 Requirements: City of Buffalo residency, Valid NYS Drivers License or Permit
The Golf Course Maintenance Worker Seasonal is an entry level skilled laborer responsible for maintaining the golf course grounds to ensure ideal conditions of the greens and surrounding landscape. This position is part of the golf department and reports to the assistant golf course superintendent and director of golf.
This is a full-time seasonal position, working a minimum of 37.5 hours per week on a staggered schedule. Weekend and holiday work is required. This position is nonexempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Overtime hours may be required at certain times, with supervisors approval.

Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Maintains golf course grounds, including mowing greens and fairways, raking bunkers, changing hole locations, trimming, hand watering, and maintenance of tee boxes 2. Operates, cleans, and maintains all machines and equipment used in the maintenance of the golf course as directed by the golf course superintendent 3. Operates, including setting to fine tolerances, secondary equipment such as lapping machines, bed knife grinders, reel sharpeners, etc. incidental to maintenance of primary equipment 4. Complies with local, state, and federal workplace health and safety rules and regulations 5. Maintains professionalism and respectful communication when encountering the public 6. Immediately informs supervisor of any potential workplace hazard

Qualifications and Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): 1. City of Buffalo residency within six-(6) months of hire date 2. Valid drivers license or permit required 3. At least 1 year experience in maintenance of golf course grounds preferred 4. General knowledge of golf helpful 5. Ability to operate and maintain equipment and hand/power tools, with provided training 6. Strong ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and specifications 7. Highly motivated 8. Willingness to learn 9. Comfortable working in an environment which performs repetitive work 10. Ability to work closely and interact professionally and respectfully with other staff members, golfers, and park users
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: 1. Primarily outdoor hands-on work, potentially under extreme weather conditions 2. A combination of independent work and team collaboration 3. Job duties may require an employee to bend, reach, stoop, sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, as well as lift and/or move heavy objects which at times could be up to 50 lbs. 4. Must continuously foster a team approach to working in the park/golf environment 5. Staggered/flexible schedule to include early/late start and end times, weekends, and holidays 6. Employee may be assigned occasionally to another course/district based on the needs of the Conservancy 7. Must be able to adapt to ever-changing resources and limited budgets
