University of Buffalo - Campus, Dining Information Technologies Student Employee in Buffalo, New York
Supports the technical needs of the FSA including Campus Dining and Shops and the UB Card Office. This includes PC’s, Point of Sale Equipment, digital signs, kiosks, cameras, etc. This position will work 15-20 hours a week and may include weekend football games and occasional evening shifts. This position may include opportunity to work over winter and summer recess.
Installation, Deployment and Maintenance
Configuration, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of FSA/CDS IT equipment including but not limited to PCs, Laptops, end user devices, POS and specialty technical devices.
Maintenance and repair of digital signs, surveillance cameras, and other electronic devices.
Must be able to drive company vehicle between locations
General IT support in all areas of the department.
Monitoring and Administrative
Monitor and respond to user requests via ticket system and service calls.
Maintain device information database.
Create documentation in the field and in office for FSA/CDS assets.
Comply with department and corporate policies and procedures.
Valid driving license and good driving record required, must be able to complete a motor vehicle verification and be approved to drive a company vehicle as per company policy and insurance requirements.
Intermediate to advance co mputer skills for web applications, mobile apps and spreadsheets.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
The IT department works out of a collaborative lab environment. Each individual has daily tasks specific to their support roles and supports each other as needed. Student employees are part of the main team and will work both independently as well as on team projects.
Physical and Mental Demands
The position is very active and the employee must be able to stand and walk for up to a minimum of 8 hours.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, stretch, twist, or reach out.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
The employee must have the ability to use hands to finger, manipulate fingers; and reach with hands and arms to use common hand tools including electric hand tools.
Ability to work on standard height ladders safely and comfortably.
The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 30 lbs. and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
