Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide initial psychiatric examinations for individuals admitted to mental health, chemical dependency, and rehabilitation and recovery programs and provide follow up medication management services.
Participate in clinical case conference and case reviews to programs to provide consultation and guidance with difficult cases, assures communication in multiple forums with counseling staff to be updated on consumer progress and outstanding issues or concerns.
Prescribes psychotropic and/or addiction medication to ameliorate symptoms; reviews incoming physical exams to ensure if the information is current and accurate.
Communicates to primary counselor the need to make referrals for physical exams with consumer's primary care physician.
Ensures that all confidential and potentially sensitive information is processed, maintained, and utilized in a strictly confidential manner.
Reviews and signs all treatment plans for chemical dependency programs within 7 days of the multi-disciplinary team approval --- as needed.
Documents all services provided in the case record. Must be literate with electronic health records.
Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders.
Have buprenorphine waiver (or be willing to obtain one within 1 month of start day --- training will be supported).
MD or DO, PNP, NP NY state license and board certified (minimally board eligible) in Psychiatry. 1 year preferred, but not required in mental health or substance abuse. Strong preference for individuals well versed in addiction medicine.
Various clinics in Niagara and Erie County
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Start and end times are negotiable
