Position Summary:

The Post-Baccalaureate Program at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences seeks an instructor to teach a physiology course for a six-week summer enrichment session. The position will provide an overview of key concepts of physiology at the undergraduate level for a class of 20-25 students. The enrichment course is non-credit bearing and independent of courses offered as part of the regular academic curriculum of the University. Instructor must be able to utilize and/or update course content from an established curriculum. Specific responsibilities include: develop and present course material in a manner that is inclusive for students from both science and non-science majors and that encourages all students’ participation; develop, administer and score pretest, class assignments, quizzes and post-test; return students’ work promptly with feedback; maintain student records (pre/post-testing data, assignment and quiz grades) using MS Excel; submit course materials (syllabus, lessons, class assignments, pre/post-tests, quizzes & answer sheets) and student grade reports to the Program Coordinator upon course conclusion.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a science discipline related to the subject; excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Teaching experience in related subject at an accredited institution of higher education; experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
