Position Title Assistant Athletic Director of Communications & Marketing

Primary Responsibilities
St. Lawrence University invites applications for an Assistant Athletic Director of Communications & Marketing. This is a full time, 12-month position.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary media contact for athletics, including proactively nurturing relationships with media as well as responding to media inquiries in a timely manner
Direct the daily operations and media activities for varsity sports
Supervise and delegate workload responsibilities to two assistant FTE’s
Plan, develop, execute and assess the Sheldon Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony
Serve as the master of ceremonies for various athletic functions throughout the year (Hall of Fame, senior student-athlete banquet, student-athlete faculty/staff luncheon, etc.)
Advise coaches and staff on communications with the media, including prep for interviews
Write press releases and profiles of student-athletes, coaches, and teams
Coordinate media operations for hosted tournaments
Oversee all publication timelines, production (including design execution according to University brand guidelines), and printing
Attend and cover home games for assigned sports including managing statistical records
Post game recaps and notes in accordance with University Communications style
Oversee live streaming, social media and webcast coverage
Produce and/or edit appropriate audio and video content using programs such as Adobe Premiere, Movabi, etc.
Coordinate individual player, team, staff and social media photo shoots; collaborate with Director of Visual and Creative Strategy to schedule game-day and hockey individual photos
Coordinate athletics marketing and assist associate director of athletics with athletics sponsorships
Create agenda items for monthly University Communications/Athletics meetings
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Journalism, Sports Marketing, or related field
Minimum of five years’ experience in Sports Information, experience in higher education setting preferred
Ability to supervise, delegate and effectively provide direction to sports information staff
Ability to effectively communicate with local, regional, and national media
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail including the ability to detect grammatical and spelling errors
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
Aptitude for collaborating with others, establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, coaches, and campus colleagues
Passion for college sports
Familiarity with NCAA and conference regulations (Liberty League, ECAC )
Proficient use of all technology related to the sports information industry
Proficiency in NCAA Live Stats, Stat Crew software, Adobe Creative Suite products including, but not limited to, In Design and Photoshop, and Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Power Point and social media
Ability to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis based on game schedules and travel as required
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the University’s requirement to operate a University vehicle.
