Primary Responsibilities

Position Summary

The associate director of donor relations shares in the responsibility for all donor relations activities and is specifically responsible for managing many of the day-to-day processes in the Donor Relations office and the details of on-campus donor recognition events. The associate director helps manage the Women’s Initiative Program and has primary responsibility for managing the Laurentian Leadership Society. S/he curates the donor relations web presence and maintains the named space inventory. Reporting to the director of donor relations, the associate director works collaboratively on these activities with the offices of the President, University Communications, and others across campus, as well as with trustees, volunteers, donors and alumni. The associate director is responsible for hiring and supervising student worker and assisting the major gifts team with proposals, reporting, gift agreements, stewardship for their major and principal gifts prospects and other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required. • Three to five years minimum development and/or higher education experience through writing, research, and/or event management, with donor relations experience preferred. • Ability to make decisions, communicate them effectively, and take responsibility for them. • Excellent writing, grammar and editing skills. • Proven organizational skills; experience managing complex and time-sensitive programs. • Strong research and analytical skills. • Ability to work independently as well as within a team, build effective relationships, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Ability to interact with donors with the highest degree of professionalism. • Must be technologically savvy, have a high level of competence with Microsoft Office Suite programs, and be comfortable learning new programs and operating in an online and largely paperless environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using The Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
