St. Lawrence University Chief Clerk (ARTS PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR) in Canton, New York

This position reports to the department chairs and directors for the departments of Music, Performance and Communication Arts, Art and Art History, the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery, and the Newell Center for Arts Technology. The individual in this position will provide programming assistance and perform administrative duties. This position requires a person possessing initiative, excellent judgment, discretion, creative thinking, and the ability to coordinate and accomplish multiple detailed tasks in a deadline-sensitive environment. Provides assistance and back-up to the administrative secretary when needed. This individual interacts with faculty and staff and acts as a liaison between guest artists/speakers and the broader community. Schedules residencies, facilitates performer contracts, vouchers, and requisitions; arranges housing, food and transportation, and coordinates special needs as arises with visiting artists and speakers. Produces arts calendar and creates programs as required for arts performances and other public events.

This is a full-time, seasonal, 10 months position.

High school diploma or equivalent and five years of related work experience required; or, associate’s degree and three years of related work experience required. A Bachelor’s degree and background in the arts are strongly preferred. Must have an understanding of arts production practices and the production staff required for different types of events and their duties. Knowledge of printing specifications, Drupal page creation or demonstrated ability to develop skills. Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Word (advanced formatting required), Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Knowledge of Drupal, Datatel, and the Adobe Creative Suite a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills and editing skills are required. The ability to work independently and collaboratively with a wide range of people is essential. Confidentiality is required, as well as strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Must demonstrate initiative and be able to handle numerous projects simultaneously with competing priorities. Good problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure is essential. Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to take initiative in project development and project management.

A Bachelor’s degree and background in the arts are strongly preferred.
