The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

The purpose of the Engineering Intern Program is to raise the bar on talent by strengthening our pipeline for entry level roles for immediate and future needs.
For Summer Internship
2022 Scope/Purpose of Position:
- As part of an engineering team, utilize fundamental understanding to complete assigned project work in to support division engineering at the Canton manufacturing plant.
Role & Responsibilities:
While participating in a team environment, own key objectives critical to assigned project success.
Collaborate with various engineering and operations groups to understand potential impact of product equipment and process changes. Ensure communication is established to address concerns and obtain assistance/consensus.
Review performance data on processes/findings and effectively draw conclusions.
Give recommendation for improvements, present findings, and document work.
Education & Experience:
Seeking a minimum of completed sophomore year Bachelors degree candidate in Chemical or Mechanical engineering
GPA of 3.2 or above
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint and Solidworks a plus
Familiarity with engineering process fundamentals and scientific methodology
Ability to build relationships, work in teams, and interact with all levels of the organization.
Results oriented self-starter

Data analysis skills
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities
- Small amount of travel to attend corporate intern events in Corning, NY. Opportunity to travel to vendors will be at the discretion of the project team.
