Position Title Residential Dining Unit Manager

Primary Responsibilities
St. Lawrence University seeks a Residential Dining Unit Manager for its Dining and Conference Services.
Engage and develop team members to their fullest potential
Ensures individual and team performance meets objectives and university expectations
Maintains effective university and customer rapport for mutually beneficial relationships
Identifies student needs and communicates operational progress to the Director
Adopts all university processes and systems, understand performance metrics, data, order and inventory trends; educate teams on key levers to improve margins
Creates value through efficient operations and appropriate cost controls
Supervises team regarding production, quality and control
Maintains a safe and healthy environment for customers and employees
Primarily responsible for food service at an assigned residential food location
Assists other managers in establishing and maintaining systems and procedures for the ordering, receiving, storing, preparing and serving of food & related products, as well as menu planning & development
Ensures that requirements for appropriate sanitation and safety levels in respective areas are met
Directly supervises one assistant manager, two leaders, union, nonunion and student employees with responsibility for hiring, discipline and performance reviews
Assists in location forecast and accounting
Coordinates activities with other internal departments
Interfaces with vendors
Manages front of house residential dining operations and supports other dining operations as needed

Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least 4 years of experience in food service industry
Requires 1-3 years of experience in a management role
Requires an associate’s degree or equivalent experience
Strong communication skills
Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lb.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in related field
Previous experience in higher education food service
Salary Salary Range $68,000 - $73,000 annually. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
