Primary Responsibilities
The Office of Student Activities & Leadership seeks a self-motivated individual to join its staff for the Spring 2021 semester as a Programming Coordinator. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Student Life & Director of Student Activities & Leadership Programming Coordinator – Outdoor Engagement is primarily responsible for planning programming and highlighting resources for outdoor activities that students can participate in within established COVID-19 guidelines. The Programming coordinator will collaborate both with University departments and student clubs and organizations to highlight existing programs and resources but also plan new programs, highlight local resources and opportunities that allow students to find many ways to engage in outdoor activity safely. Additionally, Programming Coordinator – Outdoor Engagement will assist in developing social media posts and marketing initiatives to promote these outdoor opportunities and resources to the student body. Working remotely and conducting student appointments through Zoom is a possibility should the chosen candidate possess the skillset desired for this type of arrangement and the work location can be supported by the University.
Specific Initiatives: • Assist students and student organizations in thinking creatively about possible outdoor activities and programs. • Support students individually in thinking about how they can best take advantage of the beautiful outdoor environment provided by St Lawrence University. • Plan and execute programs weekly to help provide additional activities for students. • Become versed on and off campus resources related to outdoor engagement that can be promoted to students.
This is a temporary, part-time position anticipated through May, 2021. There is a possibility of university housing being provided for the term of the position if the successful candidate is interested in a hybrid appointment.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required. • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. • Microsoft Office; Proficiency with social media platforms including Instagram a plus; • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community required. • Ability to develop strong professional relationships with students and colleagues. • Capable of working independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate Experience as a student organization leader or relevant field preferred.
