Touro College Registrar in Central Islip, New York
The Registrar is responsible for the collection, entry, maintenance, protection, and reporting of permanent student information. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing accuracy is a must. Excellent data-entry and customer service skills required. The Registrar is charged with the custodial responsibilities associated with the official academic records of law students currently or previously enrolled in study at the Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.
Manages the Registrar’s Office operations at Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center with all main functions as per FERPA, NYSED, NYSDOH, and other internal policies and procedures.
Works cooperatively with students, faculty, administrators, and other student service offices and the corresponding officials at Touro University to ensure the security and accuracy of records and excellent service provided to the students.
Ensures that policies and procedures are in accordance with those of New York State Court of Appeals, New York State Board of Law Examiners, American Bar Association, AACROA, and that those policies and procedures integrate with those of Touro University.
Prepares the Academic Calendar with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Director of the Flex Program for each semester and for the summer and winter sessions.
Works as a liaison with the National Student Clearinghouse with regard to student status and reports to lenders.
Works with the Records Specialist to make sure there is a review of academic records and standings following each semester.
Prepares a schedule for student registration and oversees the registration process.
Manages student grades and scholastic records including drop/add of courses, transfer of division, leaves of absence, etc.
Provides students with exam numbers each semester.
Provides assistance with the administration of final examinations.
Assures compliance with New York State Department of Health by managing immunization records required for enrollment.
Oversees and provides class ranking and deans’ list information.
Organizes student hearings before the Academic Policy Committee.
Manages the audit process for all graduating students.
Prepares various reports as required for the Dean, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Director of Assessment and other administrators or faculty as may be necessary.
Confers degrees, certifies eligibility to sit for a bar exam, and certifies Character and Fitness documentation.
Orders diplomas and CALI awards.
Organizes the Convocation for Graduating students.
Works with the Institutional Advancement Office on the Commencement Ceremony and provides information regarding graduating students and assists with the Commencement Program.
Maintains Designated School Official status for certification of Veteran’s Benefits and SEVIS certification of foreign student status.
Other duties that may be assigned by the Dean Associate Dean for Academic Affairs or the Assistant Dean for Student Services and Records.
Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Administration, Student Services, or related field.
A minimum of five years’ experience working in a post-secondary environment

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills
Must be a capable, efficient, and well-organized individual with strong leadership and managerial skills
Must be capable of working independently and as a cooperative team member in an office setting with confidential student records.
A high energy level and patience is most desirable for interaction with students, faculty, and staff.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook (Powerpoint and Banner a plus)
Moderate ability to work with files
