Student Intern needed for Public Health-Environmental Health Division for Madison County Personnel Department.
Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour, approximately 35 hours/week for 12-14 weeks

The Madison County Public Health Department has a summer intern position open with the Environmental Health Division. The position is for our summer mosquito program. The selected individual will be responsible for the collection and identification of mosquitos from multiple locations in the Town of Sullivan. Starting in late May, surveillance begins weekly. Each week traps are put in the locations known to have hosted Eastern Equine Encephalitis Virus and/or West Nile Virus in previous years. At the end of the week, traps are collected and mosquitoes are identified then sent to NYSDOH Wadsworth Laboratory for testing.
When travel is needed, a county car will be provided. Training on mosquito collection and identification will also be provided. Field work is required regardless of weather conditions.

Minimum qualifications: -Current enrollment in a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university in an Associate's degree, baccalaureate, or master's degree program.
Special requirement:
-Possession of a valid New York State driver's license at time of application and maintenance of said license for the duration of appointment.
