Hamilton College Student Fellowships Coordinator in Clinton, New York
Hamilton College seeks a full-time Student Fellowships Coordinator to administer the College’s national and global fellowships and scholarships advising program. Program objectives: to provide comprehensive advisement to students and alumni as they explore academic and co-curricular interests and future plans to make informed decisions regarding applying for fellowship/scholarship opportunities, and to guide them through the complexities of the application process.
The SFC designs and oversees procedures for all internal and external fellowship processes; advises students and alumni regarding national opportunities, including Beinecke, Critical Languages, Fulbright, Gilman, Goldwater, Marshall, Rhodes, Truman, Watson, and Hamilton’s Bristol Fellowship; advises a rotating six-member Committee regarding application procedures for individual scholarships; conducts information sessions and outreach; provides guidance to students and alumni regarding writing compelling personal statements and proposals, requesting letters of recommendation, and developing interviewing skills; organizes and participates in on-campus interviews; and writes evaluations and letters of endorsement. The position requires some work on nights and weekends, especially during the peak application season from August to November.
The SFC is the liaison to national and international fellowship/scholarship foundations, and is part of the integrated ALEX (Advise, Learn, Experience) program at Hamilton, reporting to the Dean of Engaged Education. The SFC supports a diverse applicant pool and participates in the College’s efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
