When you join PPGNY as an APC for Corning and Ithaca you will support both major health centers and ensure the communities you are working in are receiving safe and just care.
Under medical supervision, provides medical and pelvic examinations for the purpose of assessing general health and eligibility for contraception, to ascertain pregnancy, and to ascertain the need for and provide therapeutic assistance for a determined range of infections and disorders
Provides post-abortion evaluation and care
Provides relevant health instruction including family planning, HIV counseling, nutrition, sexual health counseling, and principles of health promotion and maintenance
Initiates and manages the client’s chosen contraceptive method
Evaluates and manages Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Collaborates with physicians and other members of the health care team and makes referrals to medical and community resources as indicated
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a college or university OB/GYN Women's Healthcare or Family Planning Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife or Physician Assistant Program
Certification through the appropriate licensing authority; Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives must be licensed to practice or eligible for licensure in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse or Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), and Certified Midwife (CM)
1 – 3 years of related experience, preferably in reproductive health or similar setting

Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
