When you join PPGNY as the Coordinator of Survivor Support Services you will be responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and enhancing services provided to survivors of sexual violence and their families.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provide crisis intervention, emotional support and guidance, and advocacy services to survivors of sexual assault as needed

  • Assist in developing and/or coordinating supportive/therapeutic activities to individuals and groups

  • Share direct service duties like staffing the 24-hour hotline periodically, assisting with support groups, etc.

  • Help develop initial case plans and ongoing strategies for advocacy.

  • Attend court hearings when possible and track court dates

  • Aid in completing crime victim compensation applications

  • Act as liaison for college campuses in executing the Enough is Enough mandate for sexual assault prevention on regional college campuses through partnership, direct education, and referral for victim services

  • For all campus based EIE events and programs, serve as key leader and coordinator to plan, implement, evaluate and report on all activities for funder and PPGNY reports

  • Assist in preparing monthly & quarterly statistical reports

  • Create annual work plan with detailed steps toward implementing all required programming for EIE program

  • Maintain familiarity with all Title IX rules, regulations and NYS policies regarding campus based sexual assault services and programs

  • Keep service data, create reports about funded projects, and meet other project objectives according to grant specifications

  • Maintain case files

You have:

  • Bachelors degree in Women’s Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Counseling/Advocacy, or Rape Crisis/Victim Services plus two (2) years of relevant experience; OR Associates degree in one of the above areas plus four (4) years of relevant experience; OR A high school diploma or GED and seven(7) years of relevant experience

  • The ability to communicate with, supervise, and empower staff and volunteers to be effective in their roles

  • Ability to work effectively across differences

  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and case management responsibilities; human behavior and needs at times of crime and crisis; behavioral health, social services, and other community resources; the criminal justice system, NYS Criminal Code, and Rights of victims, police department operations, policies, and procedures.

  • NYS Driver’s License and use of personal vehicle required.

All positions at PPGNY require:

Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
