Job Summary

As the Human Resources Staffing and Special Events Manager you will be responsible for focusing in on analyzing current labor models, leading to the development and implementation of a staffing plan, comprising scheduling, recruitment, and training plan to optimize labor efficiency in the location. Additional focus will be on planning and coordinating travel for the support team. This position can be based anywhere in the U.S. but will be required to be on site for July, August and September. The position will support major events and new business openings, requiring up to 40% travel in the off season.

Human Resources Staffing responsibilities

  • Develop and implement recruitment/staffing plans for the location in partnership with managers

  • Coordinate recruitment, screening, interviewing, and hiring or individuals for assignment

  • Maintain a current knowledge and understanding of regulations, laws, best practices and new developments in hourly labor HR compliance

  • Drive Compass Labor sharing via MyStaff and build relationships with local Compass locations

  • Develop and maintain location staff grids

  • Maintain timekeeping system and ensure payroll/invoicing is accurate on a daily basis

  • Ensure consistency of Levy branding across staffing campaigns

  • Attend manager meetings to support the overall management and governance of the location

  • Ensure all Levy and legal standards, such as I-9’s are completed accurately

  • Process unemployment claims in a timely manner

  • Ensure timely completion of all mandatory/compliance-related training, e.g. Preventing Workplace Harassment

  • Act as the primary point of contact for union representatives

  • Educate and support managers in understanding and adhering to the location Collective Bargaining Agreement

  • Assist in various HR projects and initiatives

Hotel and travel responsibilities

  • Manage hotel room blocks directly prior and during the event

  • Lead communication and travel details

  • Travel coordination for Org Chart members hotel rooms, ground transportation including shuttle, Uber and rental cars

  • Ensure all support air travel is booked and hotel rooming lists match travel dates

  • Manage hotel bookings start to finish for the event including rooming lists, straight through to budget reconciliation and billing for entire traveling Org Chart

  • Manage hotel room blocks directly for entire Org Chart

  • Lead communication and travel details with support staff through the event

  • Establish and update event timelines and processes to guide support team

Off Season

  • Reconcile invoices for temp labor and hotel

  • Research local hotels for partnerships and discounts. Secure blocks early

  • Plan dates and location for job fairs. Secure location early

  • Attend networking events and increase local presence in the community

  • Develop and manage relationships with all temp agencies

  • Review temp agency and volunteer contracts with legal department

  • Research, price and order management gifts

  • Organize and plan manager events

  • Travel as needed to support major events or new business

  • Seek opportunities for improvement and make recommendations for change

Job requirements

  • Previous experience with staffing and/or Human Resources in a hospitality space

  • Experience managing large scale projects

  • High level of computer literacy

  • Passion for hospitality, food, and retail

  • Excellent verbal, written, organization and time management skills

  • Ability to work event hours, inclusive of weekends and evenings

  • Ability to travel in the off season up to 40%
