Marketing & Sales Intern

40 hours a week – (June, July, & August/8 -10 wks) – Must be 21+

What will you learn from your time at Empire Merchants North?

• 360˚ view of how our sales and marketing teams work cohesively to achieve company goals.

• Firsthand experience to a day in the life of a Sales Rep and/or Account Development Specialist and additional sales positions look like.

• How to create and use selling tools to enhance our customers experience with our sales team.

• How to sell in key products and the follow through that goes with that sale.

• Knowledge of Wine and Spirits and the current trends effecting our marketplace including the e-premise.

8-10 week schedule will consist of:

• 2 or 3 days per week in the office environment working with the Marketing and Business Management team

o Working on summer projects that relate to the work you will be learning in the field with the sales team

• 2 or 3 days per week working with the Imperial or Royal sales team.

o Rotate between Supervisor, Sales Rep, Field Sales Managers, Account Development Specialists and Merchandising to understand what our company objectives are and how we achieve them.

o Practice using marketing tools with the help of the sales team, shelf talker, wine list, drink list creation, POS support, etc.

• 2 or 3 days of the 8 weeks – scheduled with Merchandiser to work with for the day.

Tasks to be completed throughout the summer

  1. Marketing Tools

a. Update/create new tools to be used by salesforce with guidance from the Marketing Team.

i. Ex – Green list, kosher list, screw cap, price book attributes, shelf talkers

b. Development of shelf talkers and other tools to be used by salesforce.

c. Analysis accounts you will be visiting with sales team. Where are there opportunities? How can you help with a sale of product?

  1. E-Premise

a. Work with reps that have accounts utilizing e-premise.

b. How is the landscape of e-premise changing our business?

c. How can EMN help our customers using this space as the 2nd Tier?

  1. Sales Training

a. Wine and Spirits overview and training

b. Gain strong base of product knowledge to assist with product placements and sales presentation

c. Learn how to write preplans and plan daily route

d. Understand how company goals play into preplans and daily routes.

e. Brandmuscle training and support

f. Learn how POS and Merchandising helps sales.

g. Attend a promotion at both an off-premise and on-premise accounts to gain understanding of how they enhance product sales.

h. Attend monthly meetings and events with local teams.

Education, Certifications and /or licenses:

High school diploma

Actively pursuing a degree in Business / Marketing a plus

Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent data entry skills. Proficient PC skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Result oriented and professional with excellent verbal/written communication skills. Ability to multi-task, to pay attention to detail and to meet deadlines.
