SUNY Delhi Custodial and Transportation Services Manager in Delhi, New York

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Operations this role is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the College's custodial and transportation services and staff.

This position will work closely with all areas of campus including, Student Life, Academic Affairs, Physical Plant, University Police, The Health and Counseling Center, Student Activities, College Auxiliary Services, Enrollment Services, Athletics, and Business and Finance.

The Custodial and Student Transportation Services Managers should have a working and detailed knowledge of custodial services including cleaning techniques, staff training, and cleaning products/supplies. Knowledge of transportation services including scheduling of routes and vehicle maintenance are also essential skills. The successful candidate needs to be a self-starter and good problem solver. They need to balance multiple priorities and work well both one-on-one and in groups. They should understand the importance of meeting strict deadlines and documenting, as well as possessing solid communication skills.

Specific Duties:

  • Oversee cleaning of campus buildings

  • Manage student transportation services (Bronco Bus and evening Shuttle)

  • Become familiar with the campus room and vehicle reservation systems and coordinate room set up and HVAC requirements. Overall responsibility for the campus motor pool including:

  • Reservations

  • NYS Registrations

  • Key Watcher System

  • Select and supervise janitors, cleaners, clerical staff, drivers, and residence life maintenance assistant

  • Coordinate staff development and training programs for custodial staff and student employees.

  • Enhance utilization of the campus as a conferencing facility by working toward full utilization of the campus facilities on a year-round basis. Manage the provision of lodging and related facilities and services for camps and conference customers. Coordinate residence hall occupancy with summer rehabilitation projects and student/camp/conference participation

  • Assist in the coordination of campus events i.e., Move in Weekend, Commencement, and Open House.

  • Be familiar with the campus Building Management System to change environmental set points for certain events.

  • Participate in the development of short and long-term capital plans for campus including, recommend capital and maintenance projects to address health, safety, and utilization issues.

  • Participate in the development of annual unit plans, and assessment plans.

  • Review proposed capital projects and renovations for custodial and maintenance concerns.

  • Respond to campus emergencies during and outside of normal work hours.

  • Assist with NYS and SUNY Asset Property Control.

  • Represent Custodial and Transportation Services on College and SUNY committees and task forces.

  • Provide leadership for campus-wide fire safety, in conjunction with the Office of Fire Prevention and Control, EHS Coordinator and Director of Residence Life

    Job Requirements:

  • Associates degree from an accredited institution

  • Two or more years experience in custodial, transportation services, and event management

  • Strong communication and organization skill

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Experience working in a supervisor capacity

    Additional Information:

  • Salary: $60,000-75,000

  • Work Schedule: Full-time

  • Reports to: Vice President of Operations

  • This is a 12-month position
