Moog Inc New Space Engineering Manager in East Aurora, New York

As the New Space Engineering Manager, you will serve as the senior technical representitive with Moog's New Space customers and drive the team to the technical, schedule and cost objectives for the program. You would be a key contributor to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and testing of complex control hardware used on aerospace applications primarily for actuation, electrical, propulsion, and fluid systems.

From proposal phase to ground testing, launch and on-orbit operations, we support each mission as scientific, technical and operational facilitators.

This role is a bit of a departure from our typical engineering job descriptions, this person would need to demonstrate skills in a different environment where project sizes are on a smaller size and the overall life cycle is shorter than some of the traditional Space projects. In this role you will get to wear many different engineering hats (project, systems, design, product, analysis) in the course of the product life cycle.
Job responsibilities...
Lead projects through ownership of milestone deliverables
Supervise and develop engineering staff
Drive the project team to meet specified schedules
Oversight on systems level design and execution for actuation, controller, and battery solutions
Drive the product through the manufacturing process
Contribute to the development of new product requirements through consulting with customers and sales personnel
Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses
Be a key contributor to the preparation of successful proposal designs, cost estimates, and technical volume write ups
Operate as a key element in a team of creative, independent individuals
Coordinate the work of drafters, technicians, design analysts, manufacturing engineers and others who assist in specific assignments as needed
Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its technical reputation
Create reliable designs through a comprehensive experimental development test program
Document designs, analyses, and test results with accurate and concise reports desirable
Knowledge of mechanical actuation or propulsion systems a big plus
Minimum Requirements:
BS Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, plus at least 6 years related engineering experience; or a MS Degree in similar fields of study with at least 5 years related engineering experience.
Experience managing people
Self-starting instincts and strong analytical skills
Seasoned knowledge of electrical hardware designs
Good communications skills
