Ferguson is seeking a proven Outside Sales Representative to fill an immediate need in our Upstate New York territory. This role primarily supports civil engineers, site contractors and municipalities in our Geo Stormwater division. This is a growing market full of potential for growth and new business development opportunities! Primary responsibilities will include actively maintaining major accounts and customers, and proactively developing new business opportunities. If you are self-motivated, dedicated and can provide phenomenal customer service, coupled with a passion for contributing directly to the bottom line of a multi-billion-dollar organization, this is an outstanding opportunity for both entry-level and seasoned sales professionals alike!
This is a field-based sales role supporting customers in Upstate New York, including Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo, with up to 60% local travel is anticipated. This role also offers hybrid flexibility! As a Hybrid role, you will have the flexibility to work from home when not traveling. A Fuel card, auto allowance, travel and expense card, company cell phone & laptop are provided. To perform the essential duties of this role, the candidate will need to reside in the Albany, NY or nearby area - Relocation assistance is available.
Develop and maintain relationships with an assigned customer base, including key accounts, ensuring their satisfaction with our products and services always
Developing relationships with civil and geotechnical consultants, Departments of Transportation, municipal agencies, and private entities to generate specifications for Ferguson Geosynthetics and Stormwater solutions
Continually enhance sales skills and product knowledge to promote a professional image in the field
Work with other branch personnel to ensure great customer service from the order to the delivery and beyond
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Business Management or related major OR equivalent combination of education and related Geosynthetic or construction-industry sales experience, required
Graduate of University of Massachusetts, University of New Hampshire, Wentworth University, or Clarkson University, a plus!
Proven relationship builder with outstanding customer service skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and multitasking skills needed, including the ability to balance multiple requests
General computer proficiency including use of Microsoft applications and navigating multiple software systems, required
Intermediate proficiency with Excel, including formulas and reporting functions, a plus!
Ability to multi-task and learn quickly
Creative problem solver with a team-centric mentality
Autonomous, self-motived, and able to prioritize work
