ADIRONDACK COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM Health Assistant (North) in Elizabethtown, New York

This position requires excellent communication, organization skills, knowledge of basic child development, and experience working with the public and children. The Health Assistant will work in collaboration with head Start/Early head Start Staff to provide and promote health services. The employee must possess basic computer skills and have some working knowledge of database management and data entry. Will attend training as necessary.
General Responsibilities: Engages parents in determining whether each child is up to date on a schedule of primary and preventive health care (including dental) from a health care professional and assisting parents in maintaining that schedule. Records health histories, including medical, dental, developmental, nutrition, and immunization information into a data collection tracking system and monitors closely. Keeps objective, accurate and timely documentation in case notes. Performs sensory screening on children ae 0-5 within 45 days of their first date of service. Obtain medication Administration Training (MAT) to become a medication administrant at Head Start Centers. Assist with recruitment for the Head Start/Early Head Start Program. Maintains confidentiality of records and information of Head Start/Early Head Start staff, children and families. This is a full time position that works 37.5 hours per week with a rate of pay of $13.39 per hour. The position is eligible for benefits, which include medical, dental, vision, 401K, vacation and paid leave. The position follows a traditional school schedule therefore, there is as summer lay off period.
