Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. Intern, Software Developer in Elmsford, New York

JOB SUMMARY:

We offer students the opportunity to spend a summer working at one of Securitas' US Operating Centers. This internship program offers undergraduate students with real-world applications of software development within the North America Shared Services organization. You will participate in a 12-15-week internship located in Elmsford, New York for 20-30 hours per week. You will work in various areas such as software design, development, testing, and maintenance. You will have an opportunity to share new perspectives, fresh ideas, specialized strengths, and technical skills to help grow our business. You will also have an opportunity to present an End-of-Assignment Presentation on the topics you have learned. Successful completion of the internship program could lead to a return internship for the following summer or employment at the organization in the future.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

SOFTWARE DESIGN

• Support the design team with the creation of software specifications.

• Participate in design meetings and provide feedback on proposed designs.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

Write code to implement software features.

• Learn how to use version control systems such as Git/GitHub

• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on other developers' code.

SOFTWARE TESTING

• Write and execute test cases to verify software functionality.

• Learn how to use testing tools such as MSTest.

• Report and track software defects.

SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE

• Investigate and resolve software defects.

• Learn how to use debugging tools to diagnose software issues.

• Participate in software maintenance activities such as refactoring and performance optimization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY:

Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with a Graduation date between December 2023 - May 2026

COMPETENCIES (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing):

PC experience is necessary; knowledge of programming languages such as C#, Vue, React.
