LOCATION OF POSITION: Monroe One BOCES - 41 O’Connor Road, Fairport NY 14450; Creekside
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: July 10, 2025 - August 20, 2025. For all BOCES Programs Pre and Post summer trainings and set-up as directed.
Mandatory Summer Set-Up Meetings:
June 4th = O’Connor Academy, eStart, Transition/Employment
June 5th= Creekside (BPA Unit + TES Staff)
June 11th = Creekside (BUP Unit)
June 12th = Bird/Morgan
SALARY RANGE:Your 2025-26 rate in this title for current Monroe One Boces staff
DUTIES :
Plans, schedules, and provides pre-vocational activities for students; coordinates the plan for vocational assessments.
Trains students on pre-vocational activities and monitors progress.
Trains students on pre-vocational concepts and expectations of behavior while working on tasks on site.
Maintains data of student reporting, including, but not limited to attendance, reviews, grades, and behavior reports.
Meets with students and teachers to discuss any issues that may arise.
Oversees staff responsible for assisting students in Preview and provides proper staff training.
Develops and facilitates the progress of individual career plans.
Develops pre-vocational activities including, but not limited to, laundry services, recycling programs, delivery, and shredding services.
Provides school staff with essential information about each student’s pre-vocational abilities and achievements for staff to better accommodate individual student needs.
Introduces appropriate pre-vocational concepts to students to increase success in post-graduation programs.
Develops practice activities and makes them available to students who do not meet standards for volunteer activities.
Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facility while meeting standards of professional behavior.
QUALIFICATONS:
- Civil Service eligibility as a Pre-Vocational Training Manager: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Master’s degree in Social Work or a vocational rehabilitation counseling, psychology, sociology, human services, counseling, mental health, disability services, or education plus one (1) year paid full-time or it’s part-time equivalent experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling or administration, vocational guidance counseling, vocational assessment services, vocational work shop supervisor, or counseling such as clinical mental health counseling or family counseling; OR,
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in one of the fields mentioned in (A) above plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling or administration, vocational guidance counseling, vocational assessment, vocational workshop supervisor, or counseling such as clinical mental health counseling or family counseling; OR,
An equivalent combination of training and experience defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in workshop management.
Current knowledge of all state and federal child labor laws.
An understanding of the processes used to task analyze all jobs.
Marketing and customer recruitment experience.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
