Farmingdale State College Adjunct Instructor - Smart Scholars - Multiple Disciplines in Farmingdale, New York

FSC operates multiple grant-based programs that serve secondary school students from local and nearby school districts. Periodically, adjunct teaching positions become available in the Smart Scholars program within various academic disciplines. The Smart Scholars program is intended to support students in successful completion of high school and to help ensure they are college-ready. The primary objective of the program is to provide students with the opportunity to earn college credits by the time they graduate from high school. Though teaching style may vary to best meet the needs of a younger audience; the course content and objectives must replicate those offered to matriculated FSC students. Positions periodically become available to teach within our summer, Saturday, and after school programs. Classes may be conducted on the FSC campus, local high schools, or online.
Adjunct instructors needed for the following courses:

Additional positions may be needed for the following disciplines:
Business
Criminal Justice
Liberal Arts & Sciences
Computer Programming/Information Systems
Nutrition Science & Wellness
Psychology
Visual Communications/Marketing
Engineering/Technology
Adjunct Instructor responsibilities:
Develop course syllabus that is inclusive of lesson plans detailing topics of discussion and related projects, and a chronological timeline for instruction and assignments due.
Provide appropriate, professional and effective instruction of lesson plans.
Provide constant supervision for all students while in instructional setting.
Follow all FSC policy and procedures as related to time and attendance, submission of mid-term and final grades, and department contact practices.
Participate in faculty/staff meetings, as needed, with site coordinator and/or program director.

Job Requirements:
A minimum of a Master's Degree is required.
Expertise in subject area as evidenced by education/training, professional and teaching experience.
Availability to teach all classes through the duration of the semester.
