SUNY Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) is a comprehensive academic support program designed to help students complete their academic journey to the bachelor's degree on time. Modeled on the principles of CUNY's highly successful and nationally recognized Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) and ACE, the SUNY ACE program at FSC provides intensive academic advisement, career development, tuition scholarships, textbook assistance, and monthly stipends. The ACE program at FSC was launched in the spring of 2024 and quickly established success in student recruitment and provision of dedicated service toward the mission of aiding students in their pursuit of higher education.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Academic Support and Access Programs, the ACE Director provides general day to day oversight and successful delivery of this comprehensive program of academic, pre-professional and financial supports for program students. The director will represent the College's ACE program on all relevant committees, within and outside the Institution, developing and maintaining relationships that support the program to operate successfully as part of the College. The director will implement SUNY ACE policy and maintain local policies and processes to meet the Program's mission, as well as develop the local strategy to meet program enrollment/recruitment targets each semester.

The ACE Director will be responsible for the overall administration and supervision of all program components and staff. The Director will work to ensure successful provision of comprehensive student support services, a positive profile within the campus and SUNY ACE community, and compliance with all internal and SUNY regulations. The Director will be expected to bring innovative ideas and high energy to the day to day operations of the program that will help meet student needs and the mission of the College.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Overall development and administration of program components, data management, outcomes assessments, and timely submission of reports for the program.

  • Recruit, hire, and supervise all program staff, encouraging and promoting opportunities for professional development and growth.

  • Manage the development of processes to regularly and consistently enter, share and analyze student participation and outcome data to ensure successful progress toward student engagement and program academic performance benchmarks.

  • Coordination, supervision, and assessment of new student summer immersion programming for incoming freshman and transfer students.

  • Oversight of the program budget, managing expenditures in accordance with campus policies and procedures.

  • Develop recruitment strategy and processes to maintain enrollment targets, in collaboration with the admissions and financial aid department.

  • Assess and develop processes for program incentive distribution in coordination with appropriate college departments.

  • Develop strategy and mechanisms to increase FAFSA completion and reduce SAP/verification issues.

  • Monitor the development of a comprehensive framework to provide opportunities for ACE students to progress toward career of choice.

  • Regularly attend required meetings with SUNY Central ASAP|ACE staff, prepares reports for the University ASAP|ACE Executive Director, SUNY Office of Academic Affairs, and share outcomes each semester with college leadership.

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or related field.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in program development and management within higher education that is inclusive of coordination of services, strategy development, staff supervision, data management, and outcomes assessment.

  • Experience with expenditure planning and budget oversight.

  • Experience working within a college-related setting supporting student development and success.

  • Strong understanding of the academic, financial, and wellness needs of college students.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff and external stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, best practices for student retention and completion within higher education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with a wide variety of College constituents from both the student affairs and academic affairs divisions.

  • Prior experience with instructional technology and student information database applications such Brightspace and Banner.

  • Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Office.

  • Creative, organized, and motivated individual interested in student development.

    Additional Information:

This is a full-time Temporary UUP position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Monday, December 16, 2024, and ending Monday, December 30, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

  • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Tuesday, January 14, 2025

  • SALARY: $75,000+ $3,400 in downstate location pay = $78,400 Total Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.

  • ANTICIPATED START DATE: Spring semester 2025
