Farmingdale State College seeks a study abroad manager to manage our study away, faculty-led, and reciprocal student exchange programs. Reporting into Academic Affairs through the Academic Advisement and Information Center (AAIC), this position will essentially oversee all aspects of Study Abroad.

Specifically, The Study Abroad Manager will be responsible for the coordination of established study away/abroad programs, development of new international programs, management of oversees partnerships, and organization of faculty-led study abroad student experiences including travel safety compliance and program assessment. In addition, the Study Abroad Manager will develop and oversee an annual budget supporting the area's initiatives and assist the College with internationalization efforts related to curricular and co-curricular experiences including supporting faculty in identifying COIL partners and working to enhance COIL: Courses with the creation of short-term study abroad experiences.

In support of global learning, the Study Abroad Manager will be FSC's liaison to SUNY Global and serve as the point campus administrator for the summer study abroad programs in Florence. The Study Aboard Manager is expected to perform a variety of duties to ensure operational success including promotion, recruitment, orientation, and outreach. Student advisement, management/tracking of student applications, and faculty support in the area of course development and planning are part of daily responsibilities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct all study abroad programs and initiatives.

  • Budget planning.

  • Management of partnership agreements/contracts.

  • Strategic plan development to increase study abroad opportunities.

  • Report program assessment findings and develop improvement plans.

  • Process applications, insurance, financial aid, required documentation and travel preparation.

  • Create, organize and facilitate pre-departure orientations and information sessions.

  • Lead international efforts related to study abroad courses and exchanges.

  • Coordinate activities related to promotion, recruitment, and outreach.

  • Advise students on course pre-approval, student accounts, and registration procedures.

  • Serve as Study Abroad liaison to SUNY Global.

  • Monitor and communicate travel warnings, travel safety, and current state of global events.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in higher education.

  • Experience planning promotional events, advising, and recruiting students.

  • Documented abilities in project management.

  • Excellent interpersonal, inter-cultural and presentation skills.

  • Knowledge of F-1 and J-1 student visa regulations and compliance.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Internet applications, and social media.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in a second language.

  • Experience with contract negotiations.

    Additional Information:

This is a full-time UUP position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, April 4, 2024, and ending Wednesday, April 17, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

  • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Friday, May 3, 2024

  • SALARY: $70,000 + $3,087 in downstate location pay = $73,087 Total Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.
