Farm equipment operator to run 50-200 HP tractors, tractor drawn machinery, and self propelled machinery to manually plant, cultivate, weed and harvest strawberries, beans, peas, tomatoes, squash, garlic, leaf vegetables, blueberries, peppers, cabbage, corn, pumpkins and cut flowers.
Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties include tilling soil and applying fertilizers, transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops; applying pesticides; cleaning, packing, and loading harvested products.
Construct trellises, do greenhouse/high tunnel work, repair fences and farm buildings, or participate in irrigation activities. Will also lay down and remove plastic mulch. Set up and operate irrigation equipment.
Operate forklifts and tractor drawn machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops. Harvest fruits and vegetables by hand. Apply pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops. Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress. Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches, hedgerows.
Requirements:
- 3 months of experience required.
- Extensive bending, stooping, kneeling as well as ground work.
- Must be able to physically lift up to 80 pounds.
- Possible drug screening at employer expense.
