The Denial Management Clerk supports the department in the denial management process for client hospitals in the New York area. In this position, the Clerk performs a variety of administrative tasks to maintain timely delivery of written appeals to insurance companies, hospitals, and physicians. The Clerk also ensures that new information regarding patient accounts is properly documented and disseminated throughout the Department.
Process outgoing mail
Review appeals for due dates, confirm mailing addresses
Review and update daily reports
Updating the database with information from recent correspondence on a continuous basis
Creating Excel spreadsheets to log and track status of correspondence
Using Outlook to schedule follow-up reminders
Coordinating send dates and priorities with the Insurance Department
Filing paperwork related to accounts, data entry, and scanning documents into database
Faxing documentation to insurance carriers
Delivering mail to the United States Post Office on a daily basis
Must be courteous, possess a strong work ethic, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Must have a vehicle
Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Outlook, and Excel) applications
Must be detail oriented, resourceful, and analytical
Strong organization and time-management skills
Ability to learn proprietary databases
Must adhere to HIPAA regulations
Regular and predictable attendance
Ability to work cooperatively
Timely arrival at work
The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
