The Big Tree Inn is seeking a charismatic and energetic bartender become part of a 130 year tradition of hospitality from one of the most familiar historic landmarks in Geneseo, New York. Known for their welcoming and friendly atmosphere, the bartender must be a friendly individual who communicates easily with customers while preparing drinks and preparing drinks for the bar and restaurant. They are expected to present themselves in a professional, cordial and efficient manner with every guest.

The ideal candidate for this position would have at least one year prior experience working in a high volume bar atmosphere where they have had experience bartending, handling money and operating point-of-sales (POS) and credit card processing systems. The position does require a high school diploma or GED, additional training or coursework in bartending is preferred. The position requires the individual to have a flexible schedule including nights, days, weekends and holidays with fluency in writing and speaking English.This position will be a 5 shift position with 4 evenings and 1 day shift.


  • Ensures proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis by requisitioning and stocking all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce according to established policies

  • Greets all customers in a warm, sincere, and helpful manner

  • Prepares and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practices prudent portion control

  • Operates the complete POS system and other required software

  • Ensures that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and all company policies


  • High school diploma or GED required; some post high school education or training preferred

  • One year of relevant experience

  • Point-of-sale (cash register) and credit or debit card processing skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and staff

  • Excellent customer service focus

  • Available to work 5 shifts (4 evenings and 1 day)
