Position Information

Campus Title Financial Aid Advisor

Department Financial Aid

Position Summary

The Financial Aid Advisor will assist in the implementation of all federal and state programs, procedures and regulations, assist in the processing of financial aid applications. This position will serve as backup to the front line staff in the office.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree by time of appoinment

  • Must demonstrate commitment and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff in support of campus and department mission.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • At least one year customer service experience required and at least one year experience in financial aid or related field.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • Experience with Microsoft Office application and Google Workspace

  • Banner experience

Serve as primary support of the student loan program.

  • Assist the Associate Director of Financial Aid to ensure compliance in all areas involving the student loan programs including Direct PLUS loan and private loan processing.

Serve as primary processor for federal verification.

Serve as lead reviewer of financial EOP documentation for new students.

  • Review and request all financial documents needed to determine eligibility for the Educational Opportunity Program ( EOP ).

  • Review all incoming verification documentation, request additional information, as needed, and make updates/corrections to FAFSA using Banner and Department of Education websites.

Provide counseling to students and families.

  • Meet with students and their families and explore ways to finance a college education and loan obligations.

Assist with enrollment and retention activities.

  • Assist in on and off-campus financial aid presentations informing public of the financial aid process and sources of available aid. These presentations include orientation sessions, EOP Summer program, college night financial aid presentations, and aid application filing events.

Process summer financial aid applications.

  • Review all summer aid applications to determine cost of attendance and EFC and package aid accordingly.
