Hobart and William Smith Colleges Master’s Program Career Coordinator in Geneva, New York

As a member of the Career Services team, the Master’s Program Career Coordinator will contribute to the strategic leadership of the Center. This person will work with students in the Master of Science in Management and other future Master’s programs, organizing and managing experiential field trips for the students to learn about career pathways, and cultivating relationships with employers to develop full- and part-time employment, internships and career opportunities for our students. The Coordinator will assist in furthering the experiential learning opportunities offered by the Center, and will also support Admissions efforts by helping to coordinate various events, which includes developing marketing and communication materials, and overseeing application processes. The Coordinator will be supported by a team dedicated to delivering high-quality programing and outcomes for our students. Some travel for the purposes of cultivating relationships and managing the field trips is required.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain internship and career opportunities for Master students

  • Meet regularly with students to identify career interests and to provide career counseling

  • Actively promote opportunities for students and manage position listings in Handshake and other platforms

  • Host on-campus recruiters and promote students’ candidacy

  • Provide general career advising for students with defined career goals regarding resumes, professional correspondence, job search and networking strategies and specific employment opportunities

  • Develop and manage two career treks per year within the FLX region and larger metro areas to introduce students to various career pathways and to network with alums and prospective employers.

  • Coordinate/help promote the Career Journeys speaker series

  • Assist with application process for Admissions, including marketing, reviewing applications and helping with acceptances; and participating in Admissions events and meetings with prospective students.

Other Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative position. Normal campus office hours of work are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm during the academic year and a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours time period. Some nights and weekends are required. This position is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree in a relevant discipline highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated skills in selling, a sense of urgency to completing tasks, and outstanding interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with outreach, marketing and recruitment.

  • Knowledge and experience with employer relations and other career programs.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to develop and manage projects with independence and accountability.

  • Experience leading training sessions, designing and delivering workshops or teaching.

  • Ability to execute in a pressured environment.

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication, and management/supervisory skills.

  • A motivated/enthusiastic work style.

  • Appreciation of liberal arts curriculum

  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel on behalf of the Salisbury Center to develop relationships with employers, alumni, alumnae and parents.

  • Required technical knowledge: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, desktop database programs.

  • Preferred technical knowledge: Raiser’s Edge and Handshake

  • Strong customer service orientation; positive, helpful, resourceful

  • Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to unique social, cultural, and economic circumstances of others

  • Highly reliable, flexible and adaptable
