Happiness House School Psychologist in Geneva, New York

This is a Full Time, School Year position (37.5 hours per week) working between our Geneva & Canandaigua sites. Days of work would be Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm. School Year positions include our 6 week summer program.

The School Psychologist will work collaboratively with the Director of Evaluations to perform duties as described below. The School Psychologist will work to build rapport with the Early Intervention and Preschool Staff so appropriate services are being provided by staff on site. In addition to performing the essential functions of the School Psychologist position, other training opportunities may arise due to the need for staff training.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Provides consultations, in-service and training to teacher, clinicians and other staff members as needed.
2. Completes initial assessments, re-evaluations and other evaluations/ assessments as required by agency guidelines and New York State regulations.
3. Consults with the Special Education Teacher in the development and implementation of Behavior Plans.
4. Provides consultation and direct observation to all classrooms on a regular basis.
5. Meets on a regular scheduled basis with Special Education Teachers to discuss students, behavior documentation/plans and overall IEP goals.
6. Designs behavior programs as needed for individual children.
7. Oversees implementation of behavior management programs and behavioral philosophy throughout programs.
8. Provides support and consultation to parents as needed through evaluation and the interpretation of results, behavioral consultation and other topics as appropriate.
9. Supervises student interns and volunteers when appropriate.
10. Meets regularly with Director of Evaluations and Program Director to discuss child, family, classroom and department concerns, needs and strengths.
11. Participates in conferences, workshops and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development.
12. Participates in conference to meet the 90-minute annual Evaluation Training Requirement for Early Intervention, if applicable.

Required Education and Experience

1. NYS Certification as School Psychologist
2. Three years’ experience, preferably working with young children with developmental disabilities and their families.
3. Experience in early childhood development and family intervention preferred
4. Knowledge of available community resources, including typical preschool programs.
Valid NYS driver’s license
