Citi Finance Accounting Senior Analyst (Buffalo, NY) in Getzville, New York

The Finance Acctg Sr. Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.


  • Assist with leading team that is responsible for performing financial analysis, regulatory reporting, middle-office functions and accounting in support of $200 billion investment portfolio managed by Citi Corporate Treasury

  • Analyze and verify trade information to ensure proper reporting of portfolio P&L and balance sheet for Treasury management.

  • Accounting and reporting for a broad range of securities, repo and foreign-denominated securities

  • Prepare and maintain reference information and analytics of hedging activities in connection with the securities portfolio.

  • Review accounting bookings and ensure suitability.

  • Interact with internal and external auditors, as well as regulatory teams

  • Ad hoc data and analytics requests from the Treasury business and Citi senior management.


  • Bachelor's degree

  • Solid accounting knowledge and work experience as well as product processors (Citi’s GTPL).

  • Knowledge of securities, including U.S. Government bonds and mortgage-backed securities.

  • Experience supervising small teams

  • Attention to detail and willingness to "roll-up sleeves," while maintaining a grasp of the "big picture."

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to draw up action plans.

  • Advanced desktop skills, including MS-Office, and high aptitude for learning new systems. Experience with GTPL or other securities product processors

  • Familiarity with Bloomberg or other market data.
