Citigroup Risk and Control Data Analyst in Getzville, New York
The Business Risk Senior Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.
Responsibilities:
Communicate strategies and objectives with relevant departments and colleagues
Provide sound data intelligence and support to the business, by communicating key insights, risks, and findings
Analyze Key Performance Indicators and Key Risk Indicators
Identify, prioritize, develop, and data focused transformation products, services and business models
Track new technology developments in areas of interest to the organization to ensure that it maintains a technological edge within the industry, analyzing and improving upon technology standards and maintaining organizational awareness of new technologies
Identify risks and issues regarding changes and develop a strategy to overcome or address risks and issues
Develop, and maintain holistic data sets, reports, and dashboards to measure risk and control performance
Use a data-informed approach to inform and drive day-to-day focus and operational efficiencies
Collaborating across (MSS), Risk and Control and technology to implement the data analytics strategy
Apply advanced analytical techniques (e.g. machine learning, statistical analysis) to extract insight and interrogate trends across businesses, products and regions
Design business reports working with technology for implementation, and present results to stakeholder.
Establish and maintain key change management controls of the analytics framework
Assist with managing data transformation and innovation Book of Work and prioritization schedule
Build prototype and proofs-of-concept to define the end product, and technology for implementation
Qualifications:
Minimum 2-3 years of relevant work experience in data analytics or related field
Proficiency with at least one scripting language (Python, R, Javascript, etc.)
Proficiency with database design and querying (SQL, NoSQL)
Experience in financial services, control compliance or legal disciplines
Experience with work-flow systems
Excellent project management and organizational skills.
Outstanding relationship building and relationship management skills
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Excel
Self-motivated and detail oriented
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Information Systems, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance or a related quantitative discipline
Competencies:
Strong project and time management skills, with a keen sense of urgency and ownership
Leadership skills; ability to bring together processes across different businesses, regions and support functions
Excellent communicator; with a proactive and “no surprises” approach in communicating issues
Curiosity and enthusiasm for technology, innovation, and digital tools
Strong decision making, and problem solving skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience using advanced statistical methodologies
Expertise with business intelligence software, scripting, and database languages
Proficiency with MS-Office applications (e.g., Excel, Access, SharePoint, Visio, PowerPoint)
Specific subject matter expertise regarding Markets products & services, and trading systems and controls
