• Exploring how hydropower, energy efficiency, electric vehicles and more exciting initiatives are changing the power industry
• Seeing firsthand what it’s like to work for New York State, including exposure to labor unions and collective bargaining agreements
• Learning about NYPA’s commitment to New York State citizens and the communities where our generation facilities are hosted
• Visiting the Blenheim-Gilboa power project to see up close how our power is made and how important pumped storage is to reliable electricity in New York
• Gaining a foundation on the energy regulations that govern our industry

The HR & Labor Relations Intern will assist the day-to-day tasks of Human Resources and Labor Relations and provide critical support by:
Reviewing compliance of applicant records to comply with record keeping requirements.
Employee file review and maintenance of records to ensure documents are properly filed and maintained in accordance with company policy
Scanning all HR and Labor files (including personnel files) into the Content Server.
Assisting with the BG HR Initiative to automate and streamline HR processes.
Assisting with processing and tracking FMLA, PFL, and IBEW leave of absences.
Assisting with recruiting, pre-employment testing, background screenings, interviews, pre-employment paperwork, and on-boarding.
Providing general office support to the department as directed, assist with various employee file maintenance and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Ability to follow a specific set of instructions and willingness to learn
Approachable attitude and able to work with a diverse group of individuals in a professional manner
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with competing priorities
Collaborative and team orientated
Customer-focused especially when dealing with vendors and internal clients
Education, Experience and Certifications
Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with a focus in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Management or a related field.
