NYS Department of Health Student Assistant in Glens Falls, New York

Candidates must be a matriculated undergraduate or graduate college student. Documentation of current matriculation and enrollment must be submitted with your resume.

Student Assistants support the mission of CEH by performing a variety of administrative and environmental health functions during New York States summer season and beyond. Student Assistant positions assist CEH district office environmental health staff by performing a variety of critical administrative support functions. Positions may also perform environmental health inspection functions in the field for the purposes of ensuring compliance with the New York State Sanitary Code and environmental health regulations.

A Student Assistant role provides interested individuals with the ability to gain real world experience in the field of public health through on-the-job training. Flexible opportunities are available from May to September, with the potential opportunity to extend into Fall 2024.

Additional Comments Temporary, part-time, non-competitive. Salary determined by academic level. Hours worked and schedule are flexible and dependent upon assignment. Must maintain matriculated student status to retain employment.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
