Glens Falls Hospital Student Nurse Extern - Emergency Department in Glens Falls, New York
The Student Nurse Extern summer position is open to nursing students who are entering their final year of nursing school in a 4-year BSN or 2-year Associates Degree program. The Student Nurse Extern will perform traditional PCA duties, and their experience will be supplemented with a one-on-one preceptorship with an RN and a schedule of opportunities for shadowing experiences in other departments and roles such as medical imaging, wound care, respiratory therapy, and procedural areas. The position will be in place approximately 11-13 weeks The Student Nurse Extern is required to work 72 hours per pay period for a minimum of 10 weeks to a maximum of 12 weeks. At the successful completion of the summer program, and with endorsement of the assigned RN preceptor and nurse manager, the Student Nurse Extern will have the option to transition to a traditional per diem PCA position until eligible to apply for advanced clinical opportunities. Qualifications - External * High school diploma or higher * Currently enrolled in an accredited (ACEN, CCNE, or AACN) nursing program Skills and abilities: * One letter of reference from the School of Nursing * Applicant must provide proof of 3 years completed in a BSN program or 1 year in an Associate degree program * GPA of 3.0 or higher (unofficial transcript is acceptable) Certifications: Basic Life Support Certification Job: Patient Support Services* *Title: *Student Nurse Extern - Emergency Department Location: NY-Glens Falls Requisition ID: 23013
