SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Responsible for development, implementation, and ongoing provision of all Youth Programs offered by the Gloversville Corps, under the direction and supervision of the Corps Officers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.• Coordinate with local Corps Officer to ensure that youth programs meet Salvation Army mission and activity schedule; to include, but not limited to, The Greater Things After School Program, Summer Day Camp, Warm The Children, Long Point Camp Recruitment, Vacation Bible School, and the Angel Tree Toy Drive.• Develop a flyer and brochure giving information about the goals and activities of the program;• Recruit, hire and train Program Assistants as needed. Ensure that all documentation has beencompleted for hiring staff including employment applications, background check forms,checking references and submission to DHQ;• Ensure staff adhere to program policies and procedures; provide feedback and coaching to staff on a routine basis;• Maintain staff schedule and ensure all shifts are covered;• Promote programs in schools and throughout the community;• Recruit program participants for all youth program activities, including the summer day camp, Long Point Camp, the Greater Things After School Program, and Winter Vacation Bible School;• Plan monthly calendar of activities and ensure that these activities are being carried out;• Monitor student participation and progress for program evaluation;• Maintain and monitor snack/meals for participants;• Connect and develop positive relationships with parents;• Plan monthly Family Night activities and reach out to parents and grandparents;• Collaborate with schools and other community resources; including as it relates to recruitment of job site participants for the Summer Day Camp and summer day camp meals (breakfast, lunch and snack provided by school district);• Maintain accurate records concerning attendance, students progress, and other information;• Provide monthly attendance records for Salvation Army statistical report;• Maintain a safe and healthy environment that supports holistic learning;• Attend required in-service training, including child abuse training, CPR, First Aid etc.

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Associate’s Degree in Childhood Education, Childhood Development, or related field• Minimum three years’ experience working with children in a structured setting such as a school, day care center, or after school program.• One year of supervisory experience is required (specifically in a role that required performance feedback to subordinates).• Must be organized, able to work well with others and highly motivated to grow youth programs and serve the local community.• Must have a valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
