The Raymond Corporation Co-Op, Automation Engineering - Greene, NY in Greene, New York

Summer 2021 (May - August) or Fall 2021 (August – December) / 40 hours per week

Housing allowance available to eligible candidates

Please note: Due to the hands-on nature of this co-op, we expect the selected student to be working on-site all scheduled hours of the assignment. However, remote work requirements could be implemented at any time based on future pandemic developments.


Your Role:

As an Automation Engineering Co-Op in New Product Development Engineering, you will be treated as a self-sufficient entry-level engineer with an assigned mentor for support. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, determining solutions, and implementing changes to resolve various challenges. Depending on your major and background, you will be tasked with issues that could be mechanical, electrical, and/or software-based in nature. In addition, you will complete forklift training and acquire your forklift operating license in order to assist in your learning of the products, testing of prototypes, and determining solution activities.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Design new components, subsystems, and features to meet market requests
  • Reproduce, determine root cause, and recommend solutions for design issues
  • Install prototype components in lab environment and assist in testing of those components
  • Assist Lead Engineers in project tasks as needed
  • Perform engineering analysis using traditional hand calculations, computer aided tools, etc.

Your Department:

Automation Engineering is a multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for the design and development of automated material handling vehicles and features. The team consists of mechanical, electrical, software, systems, and controls engineering specialists. In addition to developing these features, an Automation Engineer supports production of these vehicles and features, field issues, and ongoing enhancements based on customer request. The Automation Engineering team also tracks key new technologies in the market and adapts Raymond vehicles and features to emerging technologies as they become available.
