Growmark, Inc Accounts Payable Manager - SEEDWAY - Hall, NY in Hall, New York

Seedway is headquartered in Hall, New York with branches in Pennsylvania, Florida, Vermont, Maine, and New York. Seedway has about 220 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 15,000 customers. The cooperative does business in farm, vegetable, and turf seed. Seedway is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.


Responsible for all activities related to Accounts Payable.


Supervises, leads, and develops Accounts Payable Assistant.


Maintains accurate records and provides reports to management utilizing company information system and related software relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Work with suppliers and company personnel to resolve account issues.

Obtain necessary approvals for payment. Oversee and participate in voucher entry and payment of supplier invoices as due for payment. Perform matching process of purchase order receipts and supplier invoices resolving discrepancies as necessary and establishing payment date.

Enters grower payment requests, process, code, and enter routine expenses and expense reports as needed.

Pay vouchers, submit checks and invoices to be paid to COO or CFO for review and check signing. Initiate wire transfer and ACH transactions as required, coordinating with GROWMARK Treasurer’s office.

Responsible for vendor setup and maintenance in JDE, and W-9 forms.

Maintain report files including entry journals, payment journals, check registers, voided and cleared checks, and positive payee records.

Supply credit information as requested by vendors and suppliers.

Request insurance certificates for suppliers as needed.

Coordinate telephone credit cards and company credit cards for expenses company-wide. Coordinate leased vehicle reporting, personal usage reimbursement, canceled vehicle pickup, and repairs approval company-wide.


Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.


Normally requires an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, or the equivalent thereof, and 5 years or more of related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of business and attention to detail.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
