Department Statement
The Office of Conference Services and Summer Programs oversees camps, conferences, and other external rentals at Colgate University. The office works with campus partners to manage logistics including housing, dining, and facility setup; assure compliance with campus policies and state and local regulations; and minimize disruptions to the regular operations of the University.
Accountabilities
The Progressive Swimming Instructor assesses the swimming ability of each camper prior to allowing children to participate in aquatic activities that occur at Lineberry Natatorium for several summer programs operating at Colgate University. They ensure that the summer aquatics director, lifeguards, and counselors have a copy of the results of their assessments so that they can adhere to Colgate University's Children's Camp Safety Plan for swimming activities.
Requirements
Professional Experience/ Qualifications
Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Must be capable of working professionally with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students on a daily basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
Must be certified as a water safety instructor.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand for long periods of time and to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds.
