This type of appointment is not approved to work more than 999 hours per year for all positions combined. Should incumbents work more than a total of 999 hours in a year the appointment may not continue beyond one year of service. The Office of Conference Services and Summer Programs oversees camps, conferences, and other external rentals at Colgate University. The office works with campus partners to manage logistics including housing, dining, and facility setup; assure compliance with campus policies and state and local regulations; and minimize disruptions to the regular operations of the University. Accountabilities The summer aquatics assistant assesses the swimming ability of each camper prior to allowing children to participate in aquatic activities that occur at Lineberry Natatorium for several summer programs operating at Colgate University. They ensure that the summer camp aquatics director, lifeguards, and counselors have a copy of the results of their assessments so that they can adhere to Colgate University's Children's Camp Safety Plan for swimming activities. Must be certified as a water safety instructor. Completion of a training course in lifeguard supervision and management, in addition to having a current CPR certification not exceeding one year in duration, is preferred. Requirements Professional Experience/ Qualifications Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Must be capable of working professionally with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students on a daily basis. Preferred Qualifications Education Must be certified as a water safety instructor. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand for long periods of time and to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds.
